Breakfast was really good with many options. For us the location was good as it was central for the bus service.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Newport was not dominated by a shopping mall, and there was a good variety of shops. There were some pleasant open spaces. The bus service to other towns on the Isle of Wight were good.
However, the public toilets had not been cleaned for quite a long time.

There is plenty to see around Newport Isle of Wight.
There is plenty to see around Newport Isle of Wight. There is the Owl and Monkey Haven with a good cafe and play area. Butterfly World is fun for all ages a cafe there as well. Busy Bee garden centre has lots to see over several floors and an excellent cafe with very friendly helpful staff. Chris rook Castle has plenty of history but best to go on a dry day. Newport itself has plenty of shops but if you want something a little different then Cowes is the place to go. If you are self catering then there are all the usual supermarkets. Quarr Abbey is a lovely place and the history behind it is well worth finding out. Again a fantastic cafe.

This is the county town of the Isle of Wight and, as such, has all the facilities you need. We based ourselves in Newport because we toured the island by bus and IoW has one of the best bus services in the UK. Most buses are double-deckers (go upstairs and see everything as you travel) and all routes round the island start from Newport. Newport remains vibrant despite troubled times for the retail and hospitality industry. Plenty of pubs, cafes (for afternoon tea), restaurants and shops. Not the prettiest of places, but you have the rest of the island to explore if you want "pretty".

Lovely little town, many really old buildings, well worth looking up as many town centre shops have fascinating and old upper floors. Beautiful little harbour with an Arts Centre by the river.
Pleasant park (Litton) with clean toilets but unfortunately non working hand washing facilities in both male and female toilets.
Attractive Sixth Form College formally the Technical Institute and an old Board School next door. St. James Church, immediately pe-Victoria, well worth a visit as are the old Guildhall and Museum. Interesting Roman Villa
The friendly greeting and the customer focus we and others experienced during our stay. The menu is extensive catering for all tastes and the food was exceptionally good quality and also value for money, The breakfast was exceptional. An unexpected bonus to our stay delayed by a storm and cancelled ferry. A local pub that caters for regulars and overnight short stay customers. In some ways an old fashion pub but well maintained and well managed ideally located for Carisbrooke castle and Newport.
Great location brilliant staff, Simon the new proprietor could not have been more helpful and welcoming. He only took over on Tuesday and was faced with some very worried and angry customers from the previous owners who could not contact the rebooked accommodation (Charter House) opposite He handled the situation perfectly and everyone was sorted ok. I will definitely stay there again and recommend the Wheatsheaf as a pub and hotel 👍
Adults love yurts too! This VERY spacious, comfy, well equipped, welcoming and peaceful place is a short drive from Fishbourne, Newport and its lovely ASDA supermarket. The Isle of Wight is small, so if you have a car you don't need to be in the centre of any town to access the sights. Sitting at the yurt's picnic table for all meals and barbecuing dinner was just heavenly. Thanks to Malcom and to Kelly for a memorable stay.
The room on the first floor was quiet at night. It was clean and spacious. Its facilities were very good. The breakfast was excellent, well-presented and satisfying. For a centrally-located inn it was surprisingly quiet at night even at the height of the tourist season. I would recommend this inn to anyone who wants to stay in Newport. The bus terminal is very close which makes it easy to travel anywhere on the Island.
Lovely warm welcome, comfortable room, everything I could ask for.
Definitely coming back
We cycled and enjoyed the Merstone meander, (kept our bikes in the back garden overnight) stopped for a picnic, would also be a lovely walk too.
Can also enjoy Newport town, shopping and nice places to eat
Stayed for breakfast, sat outside in beautiful walled garden, lush breakfast, again service was fantastic xxx
Convenient location within 10min walk of Newport Bus Station. The road is in the town but feels like a rural village, and is really peaceful. Absolutely lovely house, well equipped with things to use. Nice back yard with seating areas. Lounge is nicely split so you have a choice of sitting spaces. The house has a sizeable library upstairs too.
I’ve stayed in a number of different hotels but honestly this has to be number one I’ve stayed in, the check in process it’s very simple and really easy, and the moment I walk thought the door it was warm welcome. Wish I could of got to the hotel sooner as I would of loved to have some food. Would highly recommend.
Lovely overnight stay in a tastefully, beautifully decorated old house, now a Hotel. Built mid 1600's we were told. Room, lounge, breakfast all superb, Parking right outside the front door. Owners helpful and attentive and bed so comfy. Shame we were only there one night! Thank you
Exceptional little place with a really wonderful team. Brilliant night’s sleep in a quiet room, and dinner & breakfast were to a high standard. The location is idyllic, you can walk to a pebble beach through public footpaths in around 29 mins or so, and the scenery is breathtaking.
Found the room to be very clean with the hotel facilities perfect for our one night stay. Breakfast was very good.
Beautifully presented property with tea room and cafe attached. Lovely garden area. Located within a short walk to local restaurants and pubs.
Dog friendly.
Really pretty room, it is like staying in a boutique hotel. Freshly prepared breakfast was included. Very friendly staff too. good location in Newport and free parking. we had the family room which was pretty big in size.
All good. Comfortable room and very pleasant hosts (owners). Very good location for working in Newport, free parking available. I found the room to be quiet, breakfast was lovely!
Breakfast as expected for this type of hotel. Location excellent in middle of Newport. Noisy as expected in such a location, certainly when pubs cleared, but not really a problem
A central location although not a great part of Newport. In a mews and quiet. Private yard out the back useful on sunny evenings. Good wifi and plenty of channels on TV.
Amazing lovely place with character and amazing hosts would recommend this place and so easy to get about from. The hotel to other parts of the Island
Will be back
Room and bathroom very nice, location very near the centre of Newport, I o W, convenient for public transport, banks, supermarkets and public transport.
